Transfer Responsibility question

Hello all, I have a question about transferring responsibility. I currently have an iPhone through a separate account from my family but still under my dad's name (I messed up transferring responsibility last time, long story). I am paying the bill on this phone, and would like to transfer responsibility to my own name. If I do this, will I lose my unlimited data plan? If so, is there a way to do it where I can keep the unlimited data plan?   Thanks for any answers you all can give me!

switching to the iphone

Hello. I'm currently a family plan with unlimited calling and texting. I'm trying to switch over to an old first generation iphone I had lying around. In asking me to register, the mandatory data plan comes with only two hundred text messages, with unlimited costing an extra $20. If I don't get the unlimited messaging, will my family plans unlimited texts cover the iphone or will the two hundred texts replace it?

Adding 2 more phones to a family plan on the other side of the country…

My father-in-law has given us a birthday present of offering to buy myself and my wife iphones and add us to his family plan.  We'd like to have our pre-exsisting numbers ported (we are currently with T-Mobile) into his account.    The complication is that we live in Seattle and he lives in Chicago.   We have no plans to go home to see him any time soon, so we won't be able to show up in a store and have things done in the usual way.    Could he buy the phones online and then have them mailed to us, then we go to an AT&T or Apple store to have the numbers transfered into the account?  Would it be helpful to have my wife or myself added as people with full account access?    I have so many questions, am really excited to get iphones so any help is greatly appreciated!

Wow, ordered yesterday, 8-12, shipped today

I must be living right.   I ordered a 4g yesterday, 8-12--the estimate said 7-14 days before it would ship--but I just received notice that it shipped today, 8-13, and I will get it Monday.   I wonder, but doubt it, that already having two 4gs on my family plan put me on some kind of priority list. But after looking at a couple of posts mentioning that some phones came off backorder today, maybe it was just a matter of good timing.

Bluetooth on iPhone

Could someone explain why bluetooth doesn't work like any other phone??? When I try to connect with another phone, it never works and I've tried it with my 3GS and now my iPhone 4. I've even tried to use it with my wife's auto which has a bluetooth option and it never connects. It seems to be useless unless there's something I'm doing wrong. I've tried all of other phones my family has with my wife's vehicle and no problem at all, but not the iPhone.

How to add iphone AND upgrade current phone in family plan?

I currently have a family plan with two phones, one of which is due for an upgrade/new commitment.  I'd like to get an iphone for me, add it to the family plan, and give the current phone which is due for an upgrade to my teen.  Here are my questions:   1.  How can I keep my phone number, using it on the new iphone, and get a new number for my "old" phone?   2.  I don't care about getting an iphone 4G -- the 3G is fine for my use, so what's the least expensive way to buy the iphone?   3.  Bottom line new monthly cost for me???    Thanks!

Compatibility issues with iPhone 4 sim card in another phone?

I'm about to go on a yearly cabin vacation with my family and wanted to know if there were any suggestions that you could make as far as micro sim to regular sim adapters go, and if there were any compatibility issues with the micro sim being used with the adapter in a different phone (contacts wired differently or whatever).   A little back story. We've gone on this trip every year since 2002. In 2007, we needed emergency services for my daughter but couldn't get cell service. We were lucky to have my sister with me who was a ham radio operator, and had her portable radio with her.   After that event, we considered abandoning the yearly vacation because of the lack of service, since my sister would not be able to come with us every year. But, my sister came through with some equipment that made our lives much easier. She bought this imported phone from the UK which came with a bunch of cable and a huge antenna. We've mounted all of that on the side of the cabin, ran the cable inside and are now able to get 3-4 bars on EDGE with that phone.   In the past, though, I've been able to pop out my iPhone sim card (2G and 3G), throw it into the imported phone and get service along with internet access just fine. However, with the micro sim card, I'm not sure exactly which adapter is preferred or if there are any compatibility issues with the contacts or between the micro sim itself and the phone. Another less important question is if the internet access will work since we can get EDGE service, which is nice for light browsing and checking email.
